What is Direct Mail Marketing?

Direct marketing is a type of direct marketing delivered physically to a prospect’s mailbox through the United States Postal Service or other delivery service. Postcards, flyers, and catalogs are common examples. Email marketing is the digital equivalent.

Example

For example, a local furniture store might send postcards to households in its area advertising a special sale on living room furniture. The postcards could include images of popular furniture items, details about the sale (e.g., discounts, dates), and a call-to-action urging recipients to visit the store to take advantage of the offer.

Recipients interested in the sale can then visit the store in person or online to browse the available products and make a purchase.

In this example, direct mail marketing allows the furniture store to target potential customers in its local area and drive foot traffic to its store or website by delivering a personalized and tangible promotional message directly to their mailboxes.
