What is Smarketing?

A fun phrase used to refer to the practice of aligning Sales and Marketing works. In a perfect world, marketing would pass off tons of fully qualified leads to the sales team, who would then subsequently work every one of those leads enough times to close them 100% of the time. But since this isn’t always how the cookie crumbles, it is important for marketing and sales to align and impact the bottom line the best they can through coordinated communication.

Example

A clothing brand implements smarketing by aligning its sales and marketing teams. The marketing team creates targeted social media campaigns to drive traffic to the brand’s online store, while the sales team follows up with personalized emails to convert leads into customers. Through close collaboration and shared goals, both teams work together to increase sales and improve customer engagement.
