What is Promotions?

Marketing communications are designed to inform target audiences about products or services and persuade them to buy them. There are 4 general types of promotions: advertising, sales promotion, personal selling, and publicity. Let’s say your company creates all-natural makeup. Your promotions could include advertising on beauty blogs, sending a discount to an email list, setting up sales calls with owners of local boutiques, or hosting a free makeover event for beauty site editors.

Example

A retail store offers a “Buy One, Get One Free” promotion on selected clothing items. Customers who purchase one item from the specified collection receive another item of equal or lesser value for free. This promotion incentivizes customers to make a purchase by providing added value and encourages them to buy more items than they initially intended.
