What is Digital Marketing?

Digital marketing is any marketing that uses electronic devices to convey promotional messaging and measure its impact. In practice, online marketing typically refers to marketing campaigns that appear on a computer, phone, tablet, or other device. It can take many forms, including online videos, display ads, and social media posts. Digital marketing is often compared to traditional marketing, such as magazine ads, billboards, and direct mail. Oddly, television is usually lumped in with conventional marketing.

A couple of examples can be –

  • A restaurant promotes daily specials and events on its social media profiles, encouraging followers to visit and try out the offerings.
  • An e-commerce store sends personalized email recommendations based on a customer’s browsing and purchase history to encourage repeat purchases.
  • A software company creates informative blog posts and videos to educate potential customers about industry trends and best practices, establishing itself as a thought leader.
